Sexual & Reproductive Health Project

About The Project

The project “Promoting Black Sexual and Reproductive Health” is aimed at increasing the capacity of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programs and services across Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario to serve African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities, particularly women, 2SLGBTQI+ people, newcomers, and Black youth through healthcare provider (HCP) and community capacity building.

Through working group and advisory group sessions, the project is guided by Subject Matter Experts (SME) and people with lived or living experience to co-develop and implement SRH awareness activities and training resources for both HCPs and ACB populations. This investment will help CHABAC Hubs play a central role in reducing barriers to SRH service and information access experienced by Black Canadians through culturally adapted learning materials and capacity building resources.

The project is guided by theoretical frameworks in Intersectional Black Feminism, Black Studies, Black and Queer Activism etc. The organization will continue to acknowledge and center the lived and living experiences of clients first and foremost as it draws conceptually and practically from Black, Indigenous, People of Color and 2SLGBTQI+ thinkers across Canada. With a focus on addressing anti-Black racism in SRH programs and services, the project is enabling and advancing grassroots networks and communities to meaningfully co-direct and inform service design and delivery.
